Sharif Rasheed, owner and operator of Safi Juice, visits the Drinking Partners and offers Ed and Day a different type of drinking experience. Focused on pure, organic ingredients and cold-pressed, Safi Juice has blossomed since its inception in 2015 and now operates out of a storefront in Garfield, which Mr. Rasheed explains as the Drinking Partners sample these healthier brews. With a message that “Health is for Everyone,” Safi Juice products all serve that purpose, yet without sacrificing flavor. Ed and Day get quite the herbal education from Mr. Rasheed and interrupt him often with their own blend of originality and amusement. What interests them most might be when Sharif mentions a hangover smoothie, however. Stay tuned to hear Ed mute his microphone as he composes himself after a pause-worthy moment. Lawrence Convention Center.

“No script, no editing, no do-overs.” Opening their latest podcast with a listener review that captures their essence, the Drinking Partners stay true to that analysis as they interview Virginia Alvino Young, a reporter for WESA – Pittsburgh’s NPR affiliate. As a journalist who centers her work around community voices that are often unheard, Ms. Young brings a natural ease and calmness to the studio as she adjusts to being on the other side of the microphone. What follows is an examination of Pittsburgh that is intuitive and sensitive, yet sharp as Ms. Young highlights what makes Pittsburgh unique. In between moments of deep examination, Ed and Day drop jokes and share their own original takes on the city. To read more of Ms. Young’s work, visit http://wesa.fm/people/virginia-alvino-young#stream/0. The Drinking Partners will be live at Comtra Theatre on Saturday, March 31, 2018. This episode was proudly sponsored by Farm to Table Western PA. In what might be one of the Drinking Partners most likeable listens, Ed and Day team up with two of Pittsburgh’s most well-known voices – Kiss FM morning radio hosts Mikey and Big Bob. There is rarely a moment when laughter is not echoing from their microphones as the double set of entertaining duos ricochet jokes and commentary across the room with speed and precision. A hilarious, easy to imagine story involving a very bold, Philadelphian mouse ¬sums up Mikey and Big Bob’s early days working late-nights. During the next segment, Mikey finds himself trying to keep the peace between Ed and Day and offers advice on how to make their partnership work, “I’m not going to war over Jay-Z.” Where would you expect a podcast to go from there except to a discussion centered around Shaquille O’Neal’s nakedness? Such transitions represent the Drinking Partners experience, and with two veteran radio hosts in the studio, these moments are amplified and even more amusing. Ed and Day continue to disagree, despite Mikey and Big Bob’s attempts to get them to compromise, but even those arguments are laced with humor. Stay tuned throughout to hear Mikey describe the only time that he fought with Big Bob. Hint: it involves tacos. A blast of a listen (literally, as Ed talks about space yet again). Catch Mikey and Big Bob every weekday morning on 96.1 FM or on iHeart Radio, https://961kiss.iheart.com/featured/the-morning-freak-show/.

In the opening segment of the latest Drinking Partners release, Ed and Day imagine their guest as a superhero, complete with his own costume, theme song, and television show. Who is the guest who inspires them in the playful and creative start? No one knows, as the anonymous Munch – the “bag-headed” casual dining reviewer for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette – visits the studio. Bold critiques blend with favorable reviews as Munch educates the Drinking Partners on Pittsburgh’s food scene. As listeners will expect, the lesson is often interrupted in unexpected and amusing ways as Ed and Day offer their thoughts on eating beef tongue, crickets, and other unusual items. Stay tuned in to hear why Day proclaims, “I don’t want to have to dip my meat,” and Ed passionately reflects on pasta salad before declaring his aunt’s the best in Cleveland. The trio ponders upon a cookout’s top five selections in a hilarious interchange about what five items they would choose for their picnic plate. To follow Munch’s reviews, visit http://www.post-gazette.com/life/munch. Catch the Drinking Partners live at Arcade Comedy Theater for a special St. Patrick’s Day Show at 9 pm on March 17.
