As the Drinking Partners sip on beers provided by Mindful Brewing Company, Ed declares, “We bring guests back to see how we’ve grown,” and they welcome Pittsburgh-based death metal band Greywalker and two of its members – Brian Howe and Joe Solak. This latest Drinking Partners release will be of particular interest to all musicians as it explores the ideas of content creation and how to please an audience while keeping your identity clear. Midway through, the men compare music to beer as they examine the differences between metal and rock and roll in a fun and dynamic conversation. Brian continues the theme by explaining how Greywalker can be considered “accessible metal.” During the podcast, the Drinking Partners sample the Greywalker collaboration beer as they compare different genres of music. A main focus of the interview focuses on distinguishing the brand from the music, and listeners will be intrigued by the group’s conclusions. Graywalker will host an album release July 7 at the Rex Theater; for more information, find them at https://www.greywalker.net.

In the early minutes, Ed promises, “We kind of playful then we say some serious s***,” as both Drinking Partners are on their best behavior to welcome Marita Garrett, the first woman to be elected mayor of Wilkinsburg. Mayor Garrett deftly explains the abundance of potholes to the complaining Drinking Partners before exploring her other mayoral duties and offering her best (and hilarious) advice.
Local politics takes center stage midway through when Mayor Garrett offers advice on citizen involvement and how to become an active participant in government. As only the Drinking Partners can master, moments of serious analysis are punctuated with wild interjections, with Mayor Garrett playing along perfectly. An engaged listen that will inspire and encourage listeners. To learn more about Mayor Garrett and her community initiatives, find her on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/MayorMaritaGarrett/.

ShuBrew’s Zach Shumaker, a longtime favorite of the Drinking Partners, stops by the studio is this fun, friendly, and fast episode. Listeners will learn how the latest Drinking Partners and ShuBrew collaboration beer – Bred – came to be, from the black malts to the cherry accents to the uniquely named moniker. A celebrity-inspired story from Zach connects all the beer dots, as Ed and Day add colorful commentary before the conversation shifts to video games and how intricately they are connected to ShuBrew’s beers. With each beer that Zach pours, he gifts listeners with exclusive information about the offering and explains how ShuBrew’s new fermenter system allows them to experiment more. Or, as Ed says, “Zach’s dropping jewels on this episode.” Beer lovers, especially those who enjoy learning about the behind-the-scenes processes and decisions, will particularly enjoy this interview, and its focus on the creation behind each beer that Zach has brought. From yeast and bacteria strains to tiny pizzas, the guys mix facts and fun in a way that will have you laughing. That Drinking Partners experience of mixing laughs with great beer continues Saturday, April 28 at the release party for Bred. Stop by ShuBrew from 3-7 pm to fill your growler with the Drinking Partners black pale ale before seeing live stand up at Comtra Theatre at 7 and 9:30 pm. Kelauni Cook has not lived in Pittsburgh long, yet she has made her mark as one of the city’s up and coming tech experts and brings that expertise to the latest Drinking Partners podcast. After attending a coding boot camp, Ms. Cook founded Black Tech Nation to help “gather, connect, and affect” Black tech professionals. Since then, her reach has expanded to Academy Pittsburgh Beta Builders – Pittsburgh’s first high school coding camp for minorities and girls. At the start of the podcast, Ms. Cook talks about the time that Day went Hollywood on her, which Ed finds unsurprising. A discussion about online privacy veers into unexpected territory and mixes real concerns with hilarious hypotheses that only Ed and Day can imagine. Ms. Cook holds her own with the Drinking Partners throughout which leads to several exchanges that will leave listeners laughing. No technology stone goes unturned in this enjoyable, energetic, and informative interview that highlights how well Ms. Cook has adapted to life in Pittsburgh and how well she adapts to the Drinking Partners follies. Catch Ed and Day this Saturday at Arcade Comedy Theater and find Kelauni at http://blacktechnation.com.

The Drinking Partners welcome back the “reigning champ on appearances,” Tom Marshall of Full Pint Brewing, who visits the studio to chat about the new Drinking Partners coffee porter. Early on, it becomes clear that the podcast will be classic Drinking Partners play as the trio focuses the opening minutes on pet rocks before dropping some behind-the-scenes Viceland secrets! Midway through, Tom admits what beers are in his fridge, and Ed and Day discuss what they do and don’t drink at home. Stay tuned to hear the Drinking Partners thoughts on wall twerking as the men let loose in the closing minutes.

Pittsburgh City Paper food and drink journalist Celine Roberts visits the studio in this informative, locally focused release. From an examination of the politics of the dining industry to how Ms. Roberts decides which stories to feature, the interview is a compelling listen filled with charming tales that offer a fresh take on Pittsburgh’s food scene. Midway through, the trio discusses the negatives of working in the food and dining scene before shifting to the ideal dinner party menu. Hint: it’s the potluck approach! Sharif Rasheed, owner and operator of Safi Juice, visits the Drinking Partners and offers Ed and Day a different type of drinking experience. Focused on pure, organic ingredients and cold-pressed, Safi Juice has blossomed since its inception in 2015 and now operates out of a storefront in Garfield, which Mr. Rasheed explains as the Drinking Partners sample these healthier brews. With a message that “Health is for Everyone,” Safi Juice products all serve that purpose, yet without sacrificing flavor. Ed and Day get quite the herbal education from Mr. Rasheed and interrupt him often with their own blend of originality and amusement. What interests them most might be when Sharif mentions a hangover smoothie, however. Stay tuned to hear Ed mute his microphone as he composes himself after a pause-worthy moment. To learn more about Safi juice, visit: http://safijuice.com. Check out another health-centered Pittsburgh event by visiting Farm to Table’s Local Food Conference on April 14-15 at the David L. “No script, no editing, no do-overs.” Opening their latest podcast with a listener review that captures their essence, the Drinking Partners stay true to that analysis as they interview Virginia Alvino Young, a reporter for WESA – Pittsburgh’s NPR affiliate. As a journalist who centers her work around community voices that are often unheard, Ms. Young brings a natural ease and calmness to the studio as she adjusts to being on the other side of the microphone. What follows is an examination of Pittsburgh that is intuitive and sensitive, yet sharp as Ms. Young highlights what makes Pittsburgh unique. In between moments of deep examination, Ed and Day drop jokes and share their own original takes on the city. To read more of Ms. Young’s work, visit http://wesa.fm/people/virginia-alvino-young#stream/0. The Drinking Partners will be live at Comtra Theatre on Saturday, March 31, 2018. In what might be one of the Drinking Partners most likeable listens, Ed and Day team up with two of Pittsburgh’s most well-known voices – Kiss FM morning radio hosts Mikey and Big Bob. There is rarely a moment when laughter is not echoing from their microphones as the double set of entertaining duos ricochet jokes and commentary across the room with speed and precision. A hilarious, easy to imagine story involving a very bold, Philadelphian mouse ¬sums up Mikey and Big Bob’s early days working late-nights. During the next segment, Mikey finds himself trying to keep the peace between Ed and Day and offers advice on how to make their partnership work, “I’m not going to war over Jay-Z.” Where would you expect a podcast to go from there except to a discussion centered around Shaquille O’Neal’s nakedness? Such transitions represent the Drinking Partners experience, and with two veteran radio hosts in the studio, these moments are amplified and even more amusing. Ed and Day continue to disagree, despite Mikey and Big Bob’s attempts to get them to compromise, but even those arguments are laced with humor. Stay tuned throughout to hear Mikey describe the only time that he fought with Big Bob. Hint: it involves tacos. A blast of a listen (literally, as Ed talks about space yet again). Catch Mikey and Big Bob every weekday morning on 96.1 FM or on iHeart Radio, https://961kiss.iheart.com/featured/the-morning-freak-show/.

In the opening segment of the latest Drinking Partners release, Ed and Day imagine their guest as a superhero, complete with his own costume, theme song, and television show. Who is the guest who inspires them in the playful and creative start? No one knows, as the anonymous Munch – the “bag-headed” casual dining reviewer for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette – visits the studio. Bold critiques blend with favorable reviews as Munch educates the Drinking Partners on Pittsburgh’s food scene. As listeners will expect, the lesson is often interrupted in unexpected and amusing ways as Ed and Day offer their thoughts on eating beef tongue, crickets, and other unusual items. Stay tuned in to hear why Day proclaims, “I don’t want to have to dip my meat,” and Ed passionately reflects on pasta salad before declaring his aunt’s the best in Cleveland. The trio ponders upon a cookout’s top five selections in a hilarious interchange about what five items they would choose for their picnic plate. To follow Munch’s reviews, visit http://www.post-gazette.com/life/munch. Catch the Drinking Partners live at Arcade Comedy Theater for a special St. Patrick’s Day Show at 9 pm on March 17.

In a live podcast recorded during Farm to Table’s For the Love of Pittsburgh event, the Drinking Partners are joined by guest co-host Knowledge Hudson and welcome a wide variety of voices. First up is Kit Mueller, Head of Community for Choolah Indian BBQ – a fast, casual approach to contemporary Indian food located in East Liberty. An informative, quick-paced discussion centering on locally-sourced, healthy fast food is featured. Next is Ayana Jones, a self-proclaimed OG – Original Gardener, CEO and founder of Sankofa Community Village Garden. With Ms. Jones, the Drinking Partners get passionate and inspired by her activism and commitment to community improvement. Stephanie Lauren and Safaa Bokahari of For Good Pgh are warmly welcomed to speak on the For Good mission, which is to help promote and create positive experiences for underserved Pittsburgh communities. Ms. Bokhari shares her involvement with Hello Hajib, which fashions doll-sized garments and seeks to increase awareness and compassion through play. The Drinking Partners fourth guest is Alexander Payton who is with Cherish Creamery, a goat farm that produces organic, aged in-house cheeses. Ed and Day loosen up here as they lose their restraint, and Ed admits that he refuses to drink any animal’s milk. Wrapping up the whirlwind podcast is Robert Havgar from Snake Eye Peppers, who speaks on his new venture that creates custom-made, pepper-based seasoning packages. The Drinking Partners wish to thank Farm to Table Pittsburgh for their continued support.

The Drinking Partners and returning guest Beauty Jackson consider the ideal circumstances to drink scotch during a charming, opening sequence. However, soon after, Ed suggests that he should have stayed home as Ms. Jackson and Day geek out while discussing all things anime. In an attempt to welcome Ed back, Day reminds him that he’s part of the Hennesey fandom. An often hilarious and entirely real conversation about social media exposure follows. A positive, inclusive listen that even non-nerds will enjoy for its passion and pleasure. Find Beauty Jackson at the Universal Fan Con at the Baltimore Convention Center on April 27 -29, 2018. In an episode brimming with enthusiasm, the Drinking Partners welcome Chef Claudie Pierre, owner of Eminent Hospitality Solutions – one of Pittsburgh’s premier catering companies. Chef Claudie surprises them with a special gift, or as Day says, “Big things with shiny bags.” The trio sips on the Appleton Estate Jamaican Rum that Mr. Pierre has brought and examines the often-unexamined side of opening a restaurant as Chef Claudie offers advice on what not to do. Food is centric throughout the interview, with the Drinking Partners hilariously reminiscing about their favorite dining moments. On a more serious note, the group analyzes the connection between productivity and healthy eating and the importance of urban revival. An exuberant vibe and vivacious guest make this episode a fast listen. Look for several cookbook releases coming soon from Chef Claudie Pierre and visit his website: http://www.eminenthospitality.com to learn more about his food initiatives.

In the latest Drinking Partners release, Ed and Day get political with community activist and philanthropist Aerion Andrew Abney, who is running to become the State Representative for Pennsylvania’s 19th District (Allegheny County). From the first series of questions, it becomes clear that the interview will be a complex, insightful glance into the interconnection of politics and community and how Pittsburgh’s emergence can continue without negatively displacing its residents and its culture. At the heart of the discussion is the concept of listening before attempting to lead, an idea that the trio examines with far-reaching depth. Midway through, listeners will notice Ed and Day break from the serious for some Drinking Partners revelry before questioning Mr. Abney about his plans for Pittsburgh and his plans for modernizing government and raising expectations for politicians. For more information on Aerion Abney, please visit: http://www.voteaerionabney.com. What happens when four podcasters get together in a studio with plenty of beer and plenty to discuss? Listen in as the Drinking Partners welcome fellow podcasters and Pittsburghers, Straight to the League in this boisterous and unrestrained episode. Much of the first half is highly caffeinated as Tae and Tim make themselves at home with Ed and Day. In a surprising turn midway through, the men discuss the Pennsylvania Farm Show before transitioning into current events and the inner workings of creating a podcast. Without warning, the conversation turns domestic, and the men talk shopping and clothing. There are few pauses and lots of laughs in this latest Drinking Partners offering. By his own calculations, Mayor John Fetterman has provided the Drinking Partners with 2% of their podcast content. To maintain this record, he returns to discuss his candidacy to become Pennsylvania’s Lieutenant Governor in a stirring and straightforward manner and stays unfazed by Ed and Day’s antics, even when they ask what exactly a Lieutenant Governor is. Without pause, he answers all of their questions and proves himself to be progressive, knowledgeable, and approachable. From the legalization of marijuana to school funding to gentrification, the Drinking Partners quiz Mayor Fetterman on his plans for improving Pennsylvania while adding their own insights and, of course, jokes. A series of queries from the live Facebook feed infuses the podcast with a real-time feel and offers one of its best moments as Mayor Fetterman’s wife Gisele asks a question of her own. Listen in for the hilarious exchange and to hear Ed’s plans to party in the governor’s mansion. To learn more about Mayor Fetterman, the May primary, and his plans for Pennsylvania, visit www.johnfetterman.com. What started as two friends strumming guitars on the streets on a warm February night has leapt into a Pittsburgh-based web series dedicated to raising money for local charities. Spare Change TV creator Josh Corcoran brings an uplifting vibe into the studio as he describes how Spare Change began and how it continues to flourish. Inspired by the positivity and warmed with beer from Yellow Bridge Brewing, Ed pitches his own message of goodwill, “Be a good motherfucker today” and hopes that it catches on. At the midway point, the Drinking Partners reflect on the past year, from Ed’s accident to the expansion of their stand up shows. Tune in until the end to hear Mr. Corcoran describe what will be upcoming for Spare Change and to listen as Day defends the Chevy Astro Van as his ideal car. A heartening interview to end what was a monumental year for the Drinking Partners. The Drinking Partners celebrate the holidays live in the studio courtesy of a custom gift from Troeg’s Independent Brewing and welcome Pittsburgh-based author Cat Bruno. Bucket list ambitions dominate the early minutes, with several pauses, both literary and sexually suggestive, as listeners have come to expect. Ed and Day unite and vibe with a special synchronicity that leads to twice the amusement as the trio weaves the personal and professional throughout the interview. No discussion of fantasy and science fiction would be complete without Ed proclaiming that, “Space ain’t real,” before both Drinking Partners break off into a wild, wicked, and officially unendorsed segment. A brief reading from Ms. Bruno’s second book causes Ed to suffer an identity crisis, which makes for one of the most unforgettable Drinking Partners confessions since their dawning. Longtime fans of the show will not want to miss Ed’s blood-centric dilemma, which Day guesses is responsible for his co-host’s new facial hair growth. A jubilant listen filled with bits on books and writing, but true to Drinking Partners merry recklessness. For more about Cat Bruno, visit her website: www.catbruno.com or find her on Amazon.

Listeners will know from the start that a special Drinking Partners guest is in the studio, moreso once Ed makes her repeat her opening greeting. Khamil Scantling – the creator and sole contributor of CocoaPrenuer, a Pittsburgh-centered initiative designed to highlight and promote Black-owned businesses – joins Ed and Day to discuss her thoughts as a transplant to Pittsburgh. With a focus on Black success, Khamil speaks with an ease that comes naturally from her CocoaPrenuer passion and her familiarity with the Drinking Partners. Longtime fans of the show will recognize Khamil from the many stories and anecdotes that Ed has shared about her over the years. Midway through, the trio gets personal and loose. The conversation becomes a classic Drinking Partners extravaganza: wild, loud, and hilarious. Listen until the closing minutes for a rare and intimate look into who the Drinking Partners are. Chris Togneri, one of the most well-informed and prolific beer critics in Pittsburgh, joins the Drinking Partners to discuss all things brewed and booming across Western Pennsylvania. As the beer columnist for The Incline, his Four One Brew feature highlights all the happenings in the area. Early on, he discusses his (and several unnamed brewers) hatred for pumpkin beer before transitioning into a hilarious discussion on dogs. Listeners will especially enjoy the moments when the Drinking Partners combine topics to discuss “dog beer.” Midway through, the mood shifts when Mr. Togneri admits to being a Golden State Warriors fan, much to Ed’s dismay. Stay tuned throughout to hear the Drinking Partners make an analogy between women and pumpkins that most likely has never been previously attempted and, according to Ed, will limit their corporate sponsorships. Both Ed and Day are in high spirits for the latter half of the interview, which Ed blames on the jalapeno beer that Mr. Togneri brought. To follow Chris Togneri’s beer column, visit: https://theincline.com/about/chris-togneri/

Four Seasons Brewing doubles up with the Drinking Partners as Mark Brewer and Mark Pavlik bring beer, swag, and relaxed conversation to the studio. In the early minutes, the group discusses the local impact and support in the brewery’s Latrobe home before shifting their focus to Mr. Brewer’s label design and inspiration. Ed and Day are both grateful for the Russian Imperial Stout and the warmth it provides as they record from the chilly studio, and Ed claims the stout serves as a “bear skinned peacoat perfectly tailored.” From worshipping tater tots to discussing the restrained and balanced approach that Four Seasons takes when flavoring their beers, the latest podcast release has a bit of everything. “I think our guests are hometown heroes,” Ed opines as the latest Drinking Partners episode begins, while Day refers to the upcoming hour as “edutainment.” Patrick and Theresa Nightingale – representing Pittsburgh NORML – return to speak on the current Pennsylvania regulations, impending plans, and future goals associated with marijuana decriminalization. Few are as knowledgeable as the Nightingales, both from a legal and botanical perspective, and the early segment is filled with little known cannabis facts. Ed and Day chime in often with well-timed quips, flavoring the legalese-heavy conversation with hilarious asides, yet allowing the educational flow to stream. With medicinal marijuana now legal in Pennsylvania, the Nightingales offer information on how to apply for a medical cannabis card and update listeners on when dispensaries will be opening. The closing minutes combine comedy and science, which will have listeners intrigued and laughing, often at the same time. For more information about Pittsburgh NORML, visit:

Jake Bier teaches the Drinking Partners a lesson in geography in the opening minutes while the trio sips on War Streets Brewery’s Buena Vista Brown Ale. As the owner of the new Bier’s Pub – which is War Streets Brewery’s new home – Jake shares how the brewery has finally found a permanent home. After a few Drinking Partners diversions, the men settle into beer-centric conversation and examine the North Side’s emerging importance Pittsburgh’s brewing scene. Toward the conclusion of the podcast, Jake offers a whiskey barrel-aged stout, much to the delight of Ed and Day, which causes Ed to conclude, “All tens are dangerous, in all facets of life.” For more information on War Streets Brewery and Bier’s Pub, visit their new location at 900 Western Avenue on the North Side.

Award winning vocalist Anqwenique Wingfield hypnotizes the Drinking Partners with her captivating voice in the latest podcast release.
