Comedian Ray Zawodni, a “white dude with swag” according to Ed, joins The Drinking Partners in the studio for an hour of laughs. Sports talk soon commences, as the men muse about soccer and hackey sack, which Ray admits is the “most embarrassing thing that white people have done.” From there, the alcohol-infused interview goes wild, entertainingly untamed as the trio proposes a dating site for the homeless. At the podcast’s midpoint, the comics discuss the art of stand-up, offering up viewpoints on how to react to a hostile crowd and how jokes are crafted. Tipsy by the episode’s end, The Drinking Partners and Ray let loose and perform as if they are on stage, sharing uncensored and outrageous opinions and jokes, each bit more raucous and disorderly than the next. A frenzied, lawless, and amusing listen, but definitely not safe for work.

In the latest release from The Drinking Partners, Ed and Day welcome poet Fred “Fu” Underwood, creator and host of The Canvas of Words poetry series. Beginning June 25 at the Kelly Strayhorn Theater, the series offers poets and visual artists an opportunity and audience where open dialogue is promoted and personal experiences shared. Encouraged by the Drinking Partners to recite some of his own work, Mr. Underwood drops lines with passionate ease and intellectual soulfulness. This cheerful episode ranges from entertaining tales of shopping adventures to a uniquely comedic take on American taxation. Another fine interview with a rising Pittsburgh artist.

Political ramblings from Day and Ed veer into unending laughs as the duo jumpstart their latest podcast from the very first moment. With comedian and self-named social vigilante Krish Mohan as guest, the Drinking Partners explore the roles that philosophy and belief play in stand-up comedy. On stage since he was a teen, Mr. Mohan explains the effect his Indian heritage has played in creating his identity as a comic. Host and creator of Fork Full of Noodles, a weekly, satirical web series, Krish has no problem keeping up with the Drinking Partners when the political banter disappears and a playfully wicked and personal conversation about dating ensues. Toward the end of the podcast, the trio settles into a discussion about professional mentors and influences, such as George Carlin, Richard Pryor, and Chris Rock. In the final minutes of the interview, the group reexamines the intersection between comedy and social change, with Mr. Mohan stating, “Being on stage gives me the opportunity to talk about whatever I want … and bring my perspective.” For more from Krish Mohan, tune into his new podcast, Taboo Table Talk.

Rowdy from the start, this live episode features the Drinking Partners welcoming musician Devin from Devin Moses and the Saved and producer Ziggy Sawdust. From Ed’s analysis of Day’s clothing choices to a group discussion about religion, the interview is wild, loud, and fun as it weaves through varying topics. Midway through, an insightful conversation emerges as the group examines stage life¬ – from struggling to appeal to an inattentive audience to fair pay for artists and entertainers. What follows is a confessional of sorts, as the musician and comics open up on what it is like to be a performer, and the trials and tribulations that come with such a life. Devin Moses and the Saved will perform Friday, June 3, at the Layer Cake Music Festival at Spirit Hall (8:20 PM). The Drinking Partners will be hosting the main stage at Mr. Small’s Theater on Saturday, June 4 (5:40 PM – 2:00 AM). Be sure to check out both during this weekend’s Layer Cake Music Festival for a fantastic weekend of live music and entertainment
